The Rice Hyperloop team is back for it’s second year and has hit the ground running. Using the feedback given by SpaceX last year combined with new research knowledge, they hope to create and develop a better design for 2019.
Over the summer, two team members traveled to the 2018 SpaceX Hyperloop competition by invite from SpaceX. They observed what other teams were doing and enjoyed the competitive atmosphere in Hawthorne. Next year, the whole team hopes to be at the competition in California, along with the Rice Hyperloop pod!
Back at Rice, the team is beginning the prototyping process. Materials have been ordered by the component teams so they can start testing out their preliminary designs. The next upcoming deadline is the Preliminary Design Briefing at the end of October.
